Introduction


 UMNITSA Co.  with headquarters in Chelyabinsk, Russia, was founded in 1999 by Andrey Manichenko and is today Russia's leading company on the market of educational products for kids starting from the very birth.  UMNITSA offers exclusive original educational kits for early learning of reading, mathematics and English, training kits for creativity development, series of educational games, DVD-programs for speech development and original fairy tales for social development of children.

The Company's priority is to bring to loving parents the best and most relevant educational products for their kids, whatever their needs and age are.

 

History


Alexey Manichenko, CEO

Andrey Manichenko, UMNITSA's founder

UMNITSA Co. was founded on  November 19, 1999 by a teacher, psychologist and innovator Andrey Manichenko. His deep knowledge and vast 30-year experience in children development combined with the world's latest discoveries in this field gave birth to the now all-Russia-famous UMNITSA approach.

Mr Manichenko believes in the practically unlimited potential of every child. He sees the duty of parents and children development professionals to nurture this potential in a loving and respectful way. His approach is based on the method of Glenn Doman, the founder of The Institutes for the Achievement of Human Potential (IAHP). Using this unique method parents learn how to teach their children to read, to learn a foreign language, mathematics, how to acquaint them with world around.

So due to Glenn Doman’s researches and his own great experience and talent, Andrey Manichenko  managed to create the most effective educational system from the very birth.

The success of Andrey's sons, Alexey, Anton and Alexander, proved the far-sightedness of this approach. Alexey, the UMNITSA Director General, holds degrees from Russian and French Universities and is a student of the University of Chicago Booth School of Business Executive MBA program. Anton founded his own educational publishing company. Alexander is a young prize-winner in poetry.

Started as an educational centre for parents, UMNITSA Company grew into a national leader in early learning programs and games.

In Russian UMNITSA means “smart one”. In full accord with its name, UMNITSA Co. preserves its flexibility and ingenuity along with family atmosphere, and successfully combines it with constantly growing value and scale.

Milestones


1999. UMNITSA Co. was founded by a teacher, psychologist and innovator Andrey Manichenko.

2002. UMNITSA Co. comes out into the nation-wide market. We start to sell all over Russia.

2005. UMNITSA Co. outsources manufacturing of some of its products to Chinese contractors. A strong quality control team ensures that the products, services and processes provided meet our specific requirements and are dependable, satisfactory, and fiscally sound.

2007. Alexey Manichenko becomes the Company's CEO. UMNITSA Co. goes over to the second generation of management. Having introduced the European experience of administration, Alexey leads UMNITSA Co. to new levels of effectiveness.

2010. We have about 80 premium class prize-winning products, a powerful distribution network and clear vision of our future. We are the leader in the Russian market in this product category.

Alexey Manichenko

Director General

Acting as a Chairman and CEO, Mr. Manichenko is responsible for all aspects of company operations, strategy develoment and implementation.

Alexey joined Umnitsa in 2003.  The way the Company is now, it’s his merit to a great extent. Working as a Deputy Director in 2003 - 2006, Alexey introduced many innovations: he established regular planning, budgeting and reporting, developed the database software for customer service and direct sales via mail orders and internet, outsourced production to China. He also managed the development of the umnitsa.ru web-site with an e-shop and controlled the development projects for several products.

Passionately curious business development professional, Alexey has successfully been running the Company since 2007 and motivating the team of 70 specialists (as of March, 2010) to show outstanding results.

Alexey has gained rich international experience, getting education abroad and working in international companies in France and Russia before joining Umnitsa.

The most important part of Alexey’s life is his beloved family. Alexey’s wife, Svetlana Manichenko, is an experienced children development specialist. Now she’s fully devoted to the bringing up their two kids. Alexey (jr.) and Daria, born in 2006 and 2009, are growing in full accord with the Manichenko principles, helped by their loving and proud mom and dad.

Alexey holds a degree in linguistics from Chelyabinsk State Pedagogical University,
a degree in management from Russian Academy of Management and Agribusiness, Moscow,
a Master’s degree in project management from University of La Rochelle, France.
In 2010 Alexey became a student of the Executive MBA program in Chicago Booth School of Business.

Larisa Merkushkina

 Deputy CEO

Ms Merkushkina is in charge of the Company's product policy, the development and production processes.

An expert and a passionate advocate of children development, Larisa acts as an author, a team leader or a supervisor in all Umnitsa product development projects. Larisa's leadership and creativity contribute to virtually everything the Company does for its customers.
Prior to joining Umnitsa in 2004, Larisa had a 6-year work experience as a school teacher. She was also responsible for organizing special events and activities for the school's 1200 children.

Apart from the job, Larisa enjoys every kind of leisure that makes her brain work: games, puzzles, riddles. A talented artist, she illustrated some of the Company's products and loves to offer hand-made gifts to her many friends and family.

Larisa holds a degree from Chelyabinsk State Pedagogical University, Russia.

Elena Ilyinykh

 CFO

Ms Ilyinykh manages the Company's accounting and finance operations. She’s responsible for the Company's assets security and their effective use.

Due to her extensive economic experience, Elena has significantly improved the operation of the Company’s financial system. Among her many valuable contributions is development of management accounting and budgeting, introduction of the Company’s financial analysis, formation of a system of bonuses and employee motivation.

Before joining Umnitsa in 2007, Elena ran financial planning service in a public company, worked in a budgeting department of a commercial company and in the financial treasury of an industrial holding.

Elena is a broad-minded person and besides the work she has many different interests: from tailoring of individual models of clothing to flights in the sky. Elena is as elegant and graceful as her favourite creatures – cats, which she considers the most sophisticated animals.
Elena holds a degree in economics from the Academy of Labor and Social Relations, Moscow.

Maria Tsurkan

Director of Moscow Office

Ms Tsurkan is responsible for operation of the Company’s representative office in Moscow.

Maria started her career in Umnitsa in 2007 as a PR specialist. During her first year of work in the Company, “Umnitsa” was covered in five programs on federal TV channels, and more parents learnt about the benefits of early development of their babies. Maria was also occupied with preparations for toys fairs in which the Company exhibits regularly.  Such a professional level of “Umnitsa’s” participation in the largest international exhibitions in Russia is her merit as well. Before leaving to Moscow, Maria headed the Company’s Marketing Department.

Due to her great efforts, the representative office has increased in 10 times and staff has increased in 4 times since the opening in March, 2009. And, of course, sales in the Moscow region have considerably grown.

Besides the work, which Maria enjoys so much, she has a variety of hobbies. She likes to sing the songs and play music on a synthesizer, recollecting the forgotten classical works and learning the new ones. Maria’s favourite summer entertainment is cycling, she loves the sensation of speed and the feeling of a steering wheel in her hands.

Maria holds a degree in philology from Chelyabinsk State Pedagogical University, Russia.

The comprehensive distribution network has been built over a long period of time and is a significant competitive advantage.
